Welcome to the 29th annual Ken Hungerford Invitational 12U Tournament hosted by the West Hartford Youth Baseball League! We are glad to see that you are interested in our tournament this year. Here are some of the details:
Tournament games are held at Wolcott Park and Beachland Park. Wolcott Park is a lighted field with an excellent atmosphere for spectators. This field was redone over the past several months and now has brand new lights, dugouts, and an "orange" monster! There is easy access to both from I-84. This field offers concessions with drinks and snacks. Beachland Park is a similar field with a hill for viewing and the iconic home run pond out in center field. Both fields have electronic scoreboards.
Tournament games have been highly competitive in the past with Cal Ripken, Little League, and AAU teams participating.
All games will be played on a 50/70 diamond.
Bats must be USA or USSSA 1.15 BPF certified. Wood bats are also allowed. No -3 BBCOR bats are allowed.
The tournament will include 2 round robin style pool play games for each team and a single elimination playoff bracket. All teams will be included in the playoff bracket.
The tournament will run from Thursday, July 27th through Sunday, July 30th (unless there is substantial inclement weather or a smaller field of teams than anticipated).
A skills competition will be held on Saturday, July 29th at 5:00 PM at Wolcott Park. The skills competition will include Road Runner (timed around the bases), Golden Arm (throwing from center field), and Home Run Derby.
Cal Ripken rules will apply in the tournament.
Registrations will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.
Trophies will be awarded to 1st and 2nd place finishers.
The total cost for each team will be $650 (includes baseballs and umpires). Full payment will be due on Saturday, July 1st.
If you have any questions at all, please feel free to let me know. I'm looking forward to another great tournament!
